Fifth Avenue Baptist Church is located  in the heart of downtown at 416 N. 5th Avenue in Rome, Georgia. The church was established in 1881 as Desoto Baptist Church, which it was known as until 1905, when the name was changed to Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. The church is affiliated with The Southern Baptist Convention, The Georgia Baptist Convention, and The Floyd County Baptist Association. Fifth Avenue Baptist celebrated 125 years of ministry with a quasquicentennial celebration on October 8, 2006. Former church members and staff joined with current members to mark this special anniversary.
