Welcome to Fifth Avenue Baptist Church

We are so glad that you have decided to take a closer look at our church website today.  We want you to feel welcome.  Visiting a church can be an uncomfortable experience, so getting to know something about a church can often help. Feel free to email any questions you might have.

Fifth Avenue Baptist Church has been part of this community for many years. Founded in 1881, there has been over 125 years of worship and service. Our mission has not changed, and we want you to be a part of that mission as we go forward into the future for the Glory of God.  In getting to know our church, we would like to share with you some of our distinctives.

Dear Church Family:

Grace and Peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus. The Financial Freedom Team, appointed by the Church Council, Deacons and myself, want to ask each and every one of you to enter into a “Season of Prayer” with us.

We are blessed with our facilities at Fifth Avenue. We have space to grow, great rooms for our Children’s Ministries, and space for our Youth to fellowship and worship. We have wonderful access to these spaces with our elevator. All of these improvements have helped our life together. We have also done a wonderful job paying for these improvements. We are almost out of debt! We just need one more big push so that we can reach financial freedom.

We began with a debt of $500,000.00 after our renovation program in 2002, and we have paid off $375,650.01. This leaves us with a debt of $124,349.99 with our current monthly payment being $2,775.00. This time next year, the remainder of our building loan will mature and we will have to either pay it off or have it refinanced. Wouldn’t it be great if the loan was paid off in full?!! Having this loan paid off would free up a significant amount of money; enough for another Staff position, to save for a Mini-bus, or to use in Missions. Think of all the many ways our money could be used for God’s Glory.

We are asking you to PRAY about how you can “Give For God’s Glory.” Let’s make it our goal to pay this debt off by the time the loan matures on February 25, 2009. During the year, we will be having several Sundays of emphasis for paying off our debt. Scripture tells us that the borrower is slave to the lender. (Proverbs 22:7) We want to come out of that bondage so we can be of greater use to God. Will you PRAY about what you can give during these special emphasis Sundays as we all prepare to “Give For God’s Glory?”

Every Blessing,

Bro. Alan
